About

VOICES festival aspires to be a springboard for young European directors: its competition is dedicated to 1st and 2nd European features. In its sidebar non-competitive sections (Europe Express, Midnight Screenings, etc) it will present films by famous filmmakers, combining creativity, innovation and talent, leading to a rich and unique selection. Each year VOICES focuses on a different European country.

In 2014, it’s time to celebrate British cinema.

The VOICES Festival will present about ten first and second feature-lenght European films, directed over the 18 months that precede the festival. The Out-of-Competition Films selection brings films from famous directors to the Russian audience. Coming from various European countries, these filmmakers will present their films through screenings organized in film theatres or in the heart of the downtown Kremlin. The official selection represents around 40 films in total.

Besides the screenings, VOICES Festival also organizes workshops and conferences, the perfect setting for exchanging knowledge and experience.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend different master-classes in which industry professionals (producers, filmmakers, screenwriters, casting directors…) will talk about their jobs and share their know-how. Round-tables, gathering mainly professionals, will follow specific themes and will be a platform of daily interaction (Full programme will be announced in May).

The festival campus, located around the Kremlin, facilitates the informal meeting of participants. Such as environment represents a unique opportunity for cinema professionals to meet the Russian actors of this blooming industry and to interact and discuss new projects.

Moreover, the public will be encouraged to attend free events organized in the Kremlin of Vologda, such as the opening night and closing ceremony, open-air screenings, music concerts and a Picnic.
