VOICES Festival is now being prepaired for demonstration in Cherepovets

This year the festival of the young European cinema VOICES will take place in Vologda from July 6 through July 10 and will be devoted to Germany and German cinema. The films from this country and other European countries will be shown in Vologda and in Cherepovets within the Festival. Igor Guskov, the program director of VOICES, told about the preliminary program for the citizens of Cherepovets.

The new film by Sergei Loznitsa "In the fog" will participate in the main program of the Cannes Film Festival 2012. The director is going to perform the film in Vologda, within a third VOICES festival, with producers Valentina Mihaleva and Haiko Dekker.
VOICES conference and a special showing afterwards have gone off successfully in Vologda

On the 17th of April, the first press-conference of the third VOICES Festival took place in the "SALUT" cinema. It was timed to concide with a special showing of a German film "Dreileben" by Christian Petzhold, organized by the Festival direction together with the german Goethe cultural center.

Closing Ceremony and Winners of the VOICES Festival 2011

The program of the competition was presented with ten films, the debut or second work of European filmmakers, including the work of Russian director Oleg Flyangolts "Indifference." On July 9, 2011 at the Cinema "Lenk" in Vologda was held the closing ceremony of the Festival VOICES 2011.

On the 18th of May at 4pm the VOICES Festival is holding a presentation event, where we will tell everyone what our Festival is all about. The concept and the spirit of VOICES, guests, program - every topic will be covered by the Festival's direction, our guests and friends and the mayor of Vologda. Follow our website for news and videos to learn why VOICES is so unique and important.

We congratulate those who managed to send the application form and are part of the Festival's program. To all the others we wish good luck next year.
Participation in the film contest

To participate in the competition please fill in the registration form:
Filling and sending this form implies acceptance of the prescreening terms of the VOICES Festival.
Application deadline
Applicants must submit duly completed applications no later than the end date of their admission (May 1, 2011). It will ensure a high level of selection and adequate time for the preparation of the selected films.
If you have not received a response from us, then most likely your film will not be represented in the Festival program.
If your film was selected you will receive a notification from the organizers no later than one month before the Festival starts, and you should submit a copy of it in digital high-definition format. More detailed information will be presented to those whose films were selected.

In 2011 the VOICES Festival will present ten first and second full-length European films.
The prizes awarded by the international jury will be:
— The Grand Prix — 30,000 Euros (20,000 Euros to the director or directors and 10,000 Euros to the Russian distributor)
— Best Direction Prize
— Best Script Prize
— Best Performance Prize
— Audience Prize
— Special Prize “Talent without Borders” to a cinematographer whose activity abolishes borders and distances.

VOICES (Vologda Independent Cinema from European Screens) is international full-length feature film Festival which has become the unique place for meeting of young European filmmakers. Every year it presents the creations of both well-known directors and beginners. A lot of guests from all parts of Europe come to Vologda to take part in its program. Every year one of European countries becomes an honored guest of the Festival. In 2010 it was France and this year it will be Italy.

At the Closing Ceremony of the First International Festival of Young European Cinema VOICES in Vologda the Prizes to the winners of the competition program were presented. Grand Prix was given to Sergei Loznitsa for his film “My Joy”.
